Staffing Configuration - Request to Work tab

In the Staffing Configuration screen, the Request to Work tab is used to set the values that determine the time frame of the "Request to Work Period" when Home employees are able to search for and select open schedules. The selection style used for validating scheduling rules when an employee adds a new request to work and when a supervisor approves the request is determined on this screen as well.

The Request to Work Period is a rolling time frame defined as the days on or after the Request to Work Begin Days value through the end of the schedule period that contains the Request to Work End Days value. These values are set up on the organization unit's Staffing Configuration (see Configuration > Scheduling > Staffing Configuration > Request to Work tab).

Note:

There is no requirement that the values of the Request To Work Begin Days and Request To Work End Days be less than any of the Self Scheduling Advance Days values. The Request to Work feature can be used without regard to the Self Scheduling, Trading, Offering, or Schedule Incentive dates.

To set up this screen, complete the following:

  1. From Configuration > Scheduling, open the Staffing Configuration screen. Use the search screen to locate the record to be set up for the Request to Work feature.

  2. Click on the Request to Work tab.

  3. Enter the Request to Work Begin Days value to determine the minimum number of days after the current date that can be included in the search for an available schedule. If this value is set to 0, employees can submit a request to work for available schedules on the current date.

  4. Enter the Request to Work End Days value to determine the maximum number of days after the current date that can be included in the search for an available schedule.

  5. In the Request to Work Selection Style field, enter the selection style to be used when validating rules when an employee requests a listed schedule and when a supervisor approves a requested schedule. For example, the selection style may validate that the employee will not go into overtime or has a minimum rest interval. The options available are previously set up on the Selection Styles configuration screen with the Type of Edit Validation.
